Old Dominion Monarchs Face South Florida Bulls in 2025 Cure Bowl
The Old Dominion Monarchs will compete against the South Florida Bulls in the highly anticipated 2025 Cure Bowl on March 15, 2025, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Both teams entered the postseason with impressive records, as Old Dominion finished the regular season at 9-3, securing second place in the Sun Belt East Division with a conference record of 6-2. The Monarchs closed their season on a strong note, winning five consecutive games. The Bulls, also at 9-3, tied for fourth in the American Conference and outscored their opponents by a total of 236 points throughout the season.
Despite their strong performances, both teams will be missing key players. South Florida’s starting quarterback, Byrum Brown, and Old Dominion’s quarterback, Colton Joseph, have opted out of the game. Furthermore, Bulls’ head coach Alex Golesh will not be present, having accepted a position at Auburn University. This coaching change adds another layer of uncertainty as the Bulls prepare for the matchup.
Kickoff is scheduled for 17:00 ET, with South Florida currently favored by four points in the latest betting odds. The consensus over/under for total points scored stands at 52.5, a decrease of three points from the opening line. SportsLine’s projection model, which simulates every FBS game 10,000 times, indicates that betting on the total points may be a favorable option, as it has successfully predicted outcomes on its top-rated money-line picks since the beginning of the 2024 season.
This matchup not only highlights the teams’ strong regular-season performances but also reflects the evolving landscape of college football, where coaching changes and player decisions can significantly impact game outcomes. According to the model, the Bulls have gone over the total in three of their last five games and in seven of their last ten encounters, suggesting a potential for a high-scoring affair.
In terms of individual performances, the projection indicates that Old Dominion’s running back, Trequan Jones, is expected to rush for over 80 yards and score a touchdown. On the other side, South Florida’s running backs, including Nykahi Davenport, Sam Franklin, and Alvon Isaac, are anticipated to combine for more than 100 rushing yards.
With both teams having shown resilience and skill throughout the season, the Cure Bowl promises to be an exciting contest. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the absence of key players and coaching staff affects the game dynamics. For those interested in betting, the latest odds and trends can be found at various sportsbooks, including DraftKings and FanDuel.
As the date approaches, anticipation builds for what could become a memorable showdown in college football history.
