Three local football teams are competing in the postseason, each aiming for a win that would secure a place in the state semifinals. Both Summit and Mountain View will host their Class 5A state quarterfinal matches on Friday evening, while Culver will travel for its Class 2A quarterfinal game on Saturday.

Summit, the top-seeded Storm with a perfect record of 10-0, will face No. 9 West Albany, which holds a record of 7-3, in the 5A quarterfinals. The match is set for 7 p.m. on Friday at Summit High School. A victory would advance the Storm to their third state semifinal in four years, having last reached this stage in 2023.

Mountain View, ranked No. 3 with a 9-1 record, is also set to host No. 6 Dallas (7-3) at 7 p.m. on Friday. This matchup marks the third consecutive season that Mountain View has held a quarterfinal game at Jack Harris Stadium. Coach Brian Crum is on the verge of achieving his 98th win, which would make him the most successful coach in the program’s history, surpassing the previous record held by Clyde Powell.

Both winning teams on Friday will face the champions of the other quarterfinal matchups, which include No. 5 Thurston against No. 13 Churchill, as well as No. 2 Silverton against No. 7 Wilsonville.

Culver, the No. 11 seed with a 9-1 record, is heading south for a matchup against No. 3 Bandon, who remains undefeated at 9-0. This game will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m.. Culver previously pulled off an impressive upset against No. 6 Santiam in the first round of the 2A playoffs. Should they secure another win, the Bulldogs would make their first state semifinal appearance since 2008.

The winners of the Culver and Bandon game will meet the winner of No. 2 Lost River versus No. 10 Myrtle Point in the upcoming 2A semifinals.

As the postseason progresses, local fans are eager to see how these teams will perform on their quest for state glory.
