Jack Hughes to Miss Two Months Following Finger Surgery
New Jersey Devils’ leading scorer, Jack Hughes, will be sidelined for approximately two months after undergoing surgery to address a finger injury. The surgery took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and the team announced the procedure on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
The expected recovery period for Hughes is set at eight weeks, during which he will be closely monitored by the team’s medical staff. His return-to-play timeline will be reassessed following this period to determine his readiness to resume competitive action.
Hughes has been a standout performer for the Devils this season, leading the team in scoring with 25 goals and 30 assists over the course of the campaign. His absence will undoubtedly impact the team’s performance as they aim to secure a playoff position in the highly competitive Eastern Conference.
The Devils currently sit in a strong position, but the loss of their top scorer presents a significant challenge. Coach Lindy Ruff expressed confidence in the team’s depth, stating that they have players who are ready to step up in Hughes’ absence.
As the season progresses, fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on Hughes’ recovery. His return could be crucial as the playoffs approach, and the Devils hope to have him back on the ice in time to make a substantial impact.
