December Fishing Thrives in Boca Grande After Thanksgiving Warmth
Fishing enthusiasts in Boca Grande, Florida, experienced an exceptional week of fishing during Thanksgiving, with ideal weather conditions and a diverse catch. As temperatures soared into the 80s Fahrenheit (approximately 27 degrees Celsius), anglers enjoyed light winds and warm waters, creating a summer-like atmosphere.
During this period, numerous species were reported, including snook, jacks, ladyfish, bluefish, and a notable presence of sharks. Surprisingly, many tarpon were also spotted in the early part of the week, providing an exciting challenge for local fishermen.
As Thanksgiving approached, a cold front swept through the area, significantly changing the weather. This shift brought a winter-like chill, yet it did not deter the fishing activity. Instead, it invigorated the local fish population. Anglers noted a surge in larger redfish and a substantial return of trout in the shallows, along with appearances from flounder and scattered pompano.
Capt. Will Waterhouse, a local fishing guide, reported the overall success of the week, noting that the fishing conditions remain favorable as December unfolds. He stated, “Overall, we had an awesome Thanksgiving week of fishing in Boca Grande, and our fishing will stay hot throughout the holiday season.”
For those looking to take advantage of the excellent fishing conditions, Capt. Waterhouse encourages early bookings for fishing charters. He can be reached directly at 914-907-6628 or through Gasparilla Outfitters at 941-964-0907.
As December continues, the Boca Grande fishing scene promises to attract both locals and visitors eager for a memorable experience on the water.
