Connecticut Woman Claims $500,000 Powerball Double Play Prize
A woman from Meriden, Connecticut, made headlines after winning a remarkable **$500,000** in the Powerball Double Play drawing, marking a significant win for the state. According to the **Connecticut Lottery Corporation**, this event marks the first instance of a **Powerball Double Play** prize being awarded in Connecticut.
Reflecting on her unexpected fortune, the winner expressed her disbelief. “This is my first time playing CT Lottery,” she stated. The fortunate Meriden resident shared her experience of purchasing the ticket, noting that she had never played Powerball before. A clerk at the store assisted her and recommended the Double Play option, which she decided to add to her ticket purchase.
In the Double Play drawing, she successfully matched all five black ball numbers: **47, 17, 19, 53**, and **61**, securing her substantial prize. If she had also matched the Powerball number for the Double Play, she would have won a staggering **$10 million** top cash prize. The winning ticket was purchased at **H&H Mart** located on Broad Street in Meriden, a detail confirmed by the Connecticut Lottery Corporation.
As she contemplates her newfound wealth, the winner plans to use the money to pay off her mortgage and celebrate her daughter’s upcoming wedding. This winning moment not only highlights a personal milestone for her but also adds excitement to the Connecticut Lottery landscape.
The Powerball Double Play feature provides players with a unique opportunity to win additional prizes, enhancing the thrill of the game. This recent victory serves as a reminder of the life-changing potential that lottery games can offer, even for first-time players.
