Community Mourns the Passing of Ronald L. Penner at 91
Ronald L. Penner, a cherished member of the Red Bluff community, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on October 8, 1934, in Chico, California, he was the son of the late Edwin W. Penner and Martha L. Penner (Warkentin). Penner’s life was marked by his deep commitment to family, faith, and community service.
In 1955, Ronald married his high school sweetheart, June Penner (Pilgrim), and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in July. Together, they raised four daughters: Ronda Toews (Randy), Renee Morris (Bruce), Robyn Gutnik (Eric), and Rochelle Richelieu (Marty Thamm). Ronald was proud of his family, which includes numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his love and guidance.
Ronald graduated from Chico High School and attended Western Baptist Bible College in Oakland, California. His career included various roles at Caterpillar Tractor Company in California, where he worked at the parts counter, customer service, and in data processing. In the early 1970s, he joined Penner Apiaries in Red Bluff, where he dedicated his professional life until retirement.
Legacy of Kindness and Community Involvement
Beyond his career, Ronald Penner was defined by his character. He was a devoted husband, an encouraging father, and a doting grandfather. Known for his kindness and humor, he fostered a positive atmosphere among his family and friends. He enjoyed sharing stories, bestowing affectionate nicknames, and engaging in good-natured teasing.
Ronald was deeply involved in his local church, where he served in various capacities and participated in mission trips. Along with June, he hosted home Bible studies and gatherings that emphasized food and fellowship. His commitment to faith extended to his participation in Bible Study Fellowship, where he contributed both as a participant and a leader.
Family was paramount to Ronald. He cherished spending time with June, exploring the countryside, and reading together. He often invited his grandchildren to Red Bluff for quality time and traveled across the country for important family milestones, including births, graduations, and weddings.
Ronald Penner’s warmth and dedication to those around him will leave a lasting impact. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 6, 2025, at 2:30 PM at the First Church of God in Red Bluff. His legacy of love, faith, and community service will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
