Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital has been recognized once more for its excellence in maternity care, earning a high-performance rating on the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list for 2026. This marks the second consecutive year the hospital has achieved this distinction, a recognition that reflects its strong performance across various quality metrics, including the rates of unexpected complications and cesarean deliveries.

Since 2021, U.S. News has evaluated hospitals providing labor and delivery services based on submitted data. For the current evaluation, a record 901 hospitals across the United States provided maternity care data, resulting in 495 facilities being recognized for their high standards. These ratings are designed to aid expectant parents in making informed decisions about their maternity care options.

Recognition for Excellence

Among the fifteen hospitals in Ohio that received recognition, Hillcrest Hospital is joined by Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital and MetroHealth Medical Center. The ratings serve as a vital resource for parents-to-be, allowing them to consult with their prenatal care providers about the best locations for uncomplicated births.

Dr. Brian J. Harte, president of the East Submarket of Cleveland Clinic’s Northeast Ohio Market, expressed pride in the hospital’s ongoing commitment to maternal care. “Hillcrest Hospital brings together experienced teams, coordinated care, and resources that help create a safe and reassuring birthing experience,” he stated. “We are honored that U.S. News & World Report has recognized the hospital for maternity care. This achievement reflects the commitment of our caregivers who support families through pregnancy, childbirth, and the first days of a newborn’s life.”

Innovative Programs Supporting Maternal Health

A significant aspect of Hillcrest Hospital’s maternity care is its CenteringPregnancy program, which has positively impacted numerous families. This national prenatal initiative combines individual consultations with a healthcare provider and group sessions for 8-10 women and their partners. In these sessions, participants discuss various topics related to pregnancy, including backaches, breastfeeding, and post-natal birth control options.

The program aims to enhance overall health, provide essential education about the pregnancy process, and foster a supportive community experience for patients. Data indicates that CenteringPregnancy has led to lower rates of preterm and low-weight babies, increased breastfeeding rates, and improved pregnancy spacing. Since its introduction at Cleveland Clinic in 2016, the program has been made available to all pregnant women receiving prenatal care at the facility.

While CenteringPregnancy is not explicitly part of the evaluation criteria used by U.S. News, a spokesperson from Cleveland Clinic highlighted its importance in fostering safe and healthy pregnancies. The initiative contributes to the strong outcomes that the report evaluates, ultimately leading to more informed and confident parents.

As Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital continues to excel in maternity care, the recognition from U.S. News underscores its dedication to supporting families during one of life’s most significant transitions.
