Scott Adams Shares Hospital Update, Cancels Daily Live Stream
Scott Adams, the creator of “Dilbert,” announced on November 2, 2023, that he would not host his daily live stream, “Coffee with Scott Adams,” due to health issues. In a series of videos streamed from his hospital room, Adams revealed he was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, having previously disclosed his diagnosis earlier in May.
Adams appeared visibly unwell in the videos, stating he was confined to a hospital chair, humorously noting he was “velcroed to a chair.” He reassured his audience that he would be fine and expected to be discharged later on the same day. “Hey people. So, normally I would be doing my ‘Coffee with Scott Adams’ live stream, but you can see the problem,” Adams said in a post made on X.
He continued, explaining the situation: “I’m tied to a chair in the hospital… I just didn’t want to leave you hanging if you were sitting there with your coffee and waiting to go.” His candid update reflected both his humor and his commitment to keeping his viewers informed.
During the live streams, Adams described his condition, mentioning he was receiving antibiotics and experiencing some pain, particularly in his leg. He interacted with his viewers, noting that there were approximately 1,000 people watching the stream at that moment. “I’m going to keep this short. I just wanted to leave a little record here that I’m here, but the show won’t be here today because somebody tied me to a chair with Velcro,” he said, adding that he hoped to return to his regular schedule soon.
On a more serious note, Adams previously sought assistance from former President Donald Trump on November 2 after facing challenges with his health insurance provider, Kaiser Permanente. He requested the former president’s intervention to expedite his treatment schedule for Pluvicto, a critical therapy for his cancer. Adams indicated that this outreach potentially saved his life, expressing gratitude for the support he received from the healthcare system in subsequent updates.
As he awaits further treatment, Adams remains optimistic, engaging with his audience and emphasizing the importance of community support during difficult times.
While the “Coffee with Scott Adams” show will not air today, Adams expressed hope for a quick recovery and return to form in the near future.
