Ski Films Set to Ignite Excitement Across Colorado This Fall
As winter approaches, Colorado’s ski culture comes alive with the annual tradition of ski films hitting local theaters and brewpubs. This year, a selection of films from renowned production companies promises to showcase thrilling snow sports and the beauty of winter landscapes.
Teton Gravity Research will premiere its latest film, “Pressure Drop,” on October 25, 2023, at Wibby Brewing in Longmont. This film celebrates the 30th anniversary of TGR, highlighting breathtaking skiing footage from various locations, including Norway and Alaska.
In addition, the 76th film from Warren Miller Entertainment, titled “Sno-Ciety,” is set to screen at the Boulder Theater from November 13-15 and at the Paramount Theater in Denver on November 21-22. The film features segments filmed at the Ruby Hill Rail Yard terrain park in Denver, showcasing over nine minutes of content that emphasizes fun and inclusivity in skiing.
Meanwhile, “After the Snowfall,” produced by Matchstick Productions, will be screened on November 6, 2023, at Wood Boss Brewing in Denver. This film takes viewers on an adventure through iconic skiing locations, including Arapahoe Basin and Japan.
Each of these films captures the essence of skiing and snowboarding, reflecting the excitement and community spirit of winter sports. The Warren Miller film, which debuted last weekend in Salt Lake City, features breathtaking footage from Mammoth, California; British Columbia; Scotland; and the world alpine ski championships held in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria.
Colorado ski areas are preparing for the upcoming season with snowmaking operations already underway. Locations such as Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Winter Park, Vail, and Beaver Creek are all engaged in creating ideal conditions for winter sports enthusiasts.
As the ski season draws closer, these films offer a glimpse into the thrilling experiences that await skiers and snowboarders. For those interested in the upcoming screenings, trailers for each film are available online to build anticipation for the exciting season ahead.
