Skoda Unveils Stunning Imaginary Sedan in Bold EV Makeover
UPDATE: Skoda has just revealed a jaw-dropping imaginary sedan, showcasing its vision for the future of electric vehicles (EVs). This striking design, part of Skoda’s innovative “Icons Get a Makeover” series, pays homage to the classic 100/110 model that achieved historic success from 1969 to 1977.
This announcement coincides with Skoda’s impressive rise as the third best-selling automaker in Europe, capturing a solid 6.3 percent market share through October 2023. The company, now in its centenary year, is proving that it is not only looking to the future but also embracing its storied past.
The latest concept is designed by Skoda’s talented exterior designer, Martin Paclt, who has creatively reinvigorated the classic model with a futuristic twist. The new design features no rear window, replaced by a sleek body-colored panel that integrates a central fin, serving both as an air intake and a housing for the third brake light. This bold choice reflects a commitment to innovation while subtly nodding to the original design.
While the imaginary sedan embraces a modern aesthetic, it still incorporates nostalgic elements. For instance, the LED light bars at the front and rear draw inspiration from the classic chrome strip of the original vehicle. Even the iconic fuel cap is reimagined to conceal the charging port, illustrating how Skoda is bridging the gap between past and future.
The length of this fictional successor is notably larger than its predecessor, measuring approximately 163.6 inches (4155 millimeters). Built on the foundation of the current-generation Superb, this design allows for a dual-trunk layout, cleverly positioned above the drivetrain, maximizing utility for EV drivers.
Despite the excitement surrounding this imaginative concept, Skoda emphasizes that these designs are not intended for production. They are purely creative exercises conducted by designers after hours, showcasing their passion for automotive design. As Skoda continues to electrify its lineup, with models like the next-generation Octavia already previewed in electric form by the Vision O concept, the company remains focused on innovation while honoring its heritage.
This imaginative project highlights Skoda’s commitment to creativity and design, encouraging other legacy automakers, including parent company Volkswagen, to explore similar paths. As Skoda continues to push boundaries in the EV market, automotive enthusiasts and fans are left eagerly anticipating what the future holds.
Stay tuned for further updates as Skoda continues to evolve and surprise with its bold initiatives in automotive design and electric mobility.
