Two Chinese Men Charged with Attempted Murder of Korean CEO
UPDATE: In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the business community, two Chinese men have been charged with the attempted murder of a Korean CEO in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon. Prosecutors from the Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office revealed the alarming details just announced on November 26, 2023, exposing a premeditated plot that reveals the lengths individuals will go for financial gain.
Mr. A, aged 38 and naturalized from China, along with Mr. B, a 32-year-old Chinese national, are both in custody after a thorough investigation uncovered their sinister plan to kidnap, rob, and murder Mr. C, a 61-year-old representative of a small and medium-sized company. The attack occurred in July 2023 in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Incheon, where A attempted to incapacitate the victim using a metal hammer and an adhesive-coated box to obscure his vision.
The urgency of this case cannot be overstated. Prosecutors have confirmed that the assault was not a random act; it was meticulously planned, with A stalking Mr. C and gathering tools necessary for the crime over a span of three months. Items purchased included a refrigerated truck, adhesive, a stun gun, and an axe, indicating a chilling level of preparation.
In addition to the attempted murder charges, Mr. B is facing charges of aiding aggravated robbery and preparation for robbery. Authorities report that both suspects discussed the crime beforehand and were preparing to target additional victims, including another man who operates a gold shop featured on YouTube. Fortunately, this secondary plan did not come to fruition.
During their investigation, prosecutors uncovered evidence suggesting that A was experiencing severe financial difficulties, prompting him to inquire about selling a large amount of cryptocurrency—a critical factor that led them to suspect the crime was financially motivated. The severity of Mr. C’s injuries required two weeks of medical treatment, highlighting the brutal nature of the attack.
As this case unfolds, it raises alarming questions about the safety of business leaders in South Korea and the increasing threats posed by criminal elements seeking financial gain. The public is urged to remain vigilant as authorities continue to investigate the extent of the suspects’ plans and any additional targets they may have had in mind.
The Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office has committed to providing updates as new information becomes available. This situation serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in urban areas and the importance of community awareness and safety measures.
Stay tuned for more developments on this urgent case as authorities work diligently to bring those responsible to justice.
