Guy Fieri Rushed to Hospital After Gruesome On-Set Injury
UPDATE: Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has been rushed to the hospital following a shocking on-set accident that left him wheelchair-bound. The incident occurred during filming for the latest episode of Flavortown Food Fight, where Fieri suffered a severe injury to his leg after “slipping down a set of steps.”
The 57-year-old Food Network star detailed the incident in an interview with Fox News Digital, stating, “One foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold,” resulting in a catastrophic tear of his quad muscle. Medical professionals confirmed that they had never seen such an injury in the “biggest, thickest” part of the leg in their two decades of experience.
Fieri was immediately taken into surgery to prevent further complications, as he described the injury: “It exploded.” At the time, filming was in full swing with a crew of 125 people on set, all prepared to continue production. Despite the setback, Fieri expressed optimism, saying, “We figured out how to pivot through it and to have some creative filming techniques. But it’s been a run.”
Now, Fieri is relying on crutches and a wheelchair to move around. He confirmed he must stay off his leg for eight weeks before receiving a cast and beginning rehabilitation. “I can’t walk on it for eight weeks,” he shared, emphasizing his eagerness to start recovery “as fast as possible.”
The incident has altered family dynamics, especially with Thanksgiving approaching. Fieri’s eldest son, Hunter, is stepping up to take over holiday cooking duties. Hunter humorously texted his father, declaring it was his “time to shine.” Fieri joked that he would be “quarterbacking from the wheelchair,” directing his sons Hunter and Ryder, along with nephew Jules, in preparing a feast for about 40 people.
Fieri, who has been married to wife Lori Fieri since 1995, shares two sons and has made a unique promise regarding their inheritance, stating they must earn two degrees first. The chef’s determination to stay involved in family traditions, even from a wheelchair, highlights his resilience and dedication to family.
As fans await updates on Fieri’s recovery, this urgent situation serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of filming and the challenges faced by those in the entertainment industry. Stay tuned for more developments on this story as it unfolds.
