ReLakes Massage Expands with Salt Therapy Rooms in Detroit Lakes
ReLakes Professional Massage in Detroit Lakes has expanded its offerings by introducing two new salt therapy rooms. The facility, located in the Washington Square Mall, now features both a salt float therapy tank and a salt floor therapy room, enhancing the wellness options available to its clients.
The business, owned by Stacy Morris, spans approximately 2,000 square feet and includes original massage therapy rooms alongside the newly added salt therapy spaces. Morris leads a team of nine massage therapists who provide a diverse range of services. These include deep tissue, Swedish, hot stone, and sports massage, among others. Morris emphasizes the importance of customizing each massage to meet individual client needs.
Halotherapy, or salt therapy, is a key highlight of the new offerings. The salt floor therapy room features walls adorned with Himalayan pink salt and a calming atmosphere designed to promote relaxation. Clients relax in this tranquil environment while inhaling micro-salt particles that are dispersed into the air. This therapy aims to alleviate respiratory issues, reduce inflammation, and may even benefit skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
Morris explained how the therapy works: “The therapy involves breathing in aerosolized salt particles released by a machine called a halogenerator, which grinds pure salt into tiny, dry micro-particles.” This unique approach to wellness creates a soothing experience that many clients find beneficial.
The float therapy tank, located just down the hall, provides a different but equally calming experience. The tank holds 11 inches of Epsom saltwater, allowing individuals to float effortlessly. The room includes various lighting options that enhance the atmosphere, making it suitable for therapeutic relaxation. Morris noted that this therapy is particularly effective for those with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, or arthritis.
“It’s good for people who have chronic pain but may not want to be touched,” she said. “They can come in here and float for an hour to gain relief.” The water temperature in the tank is maintained at a consistent 93.5 degrees, ensuring that clients feel as though they are floating in a neutral environment.
While many may have concerns about claustrophobia, Morris reassured potential clients that the space is designed to be comfortable. “We’ve had lots of people in here that are claustrophobic, and they’re surprised they had no problem,” she stated. Each float session lasts about an hour, starting with a pre-float shower, and costs $64.73.
After each appointment, the water undergoes a rigorous 15-minute filtration process, ensuring a clean environment for every client. Morris highlighted the high standards of cleanliness: “The filter is so good that not even a hair can go through it. My water is actually cleaner than your drinking water.”
Morris has a rich background in the massage therapy field. Originally from North Dakota, her family operated a ski area in Fort Ransom. After moving to Detroit Lakes in November 2017, she continued her career at Revive Professional Massage in Fargo. There, she trained under Rachel Alderson, the owner and her mentor, who played a pivotal role in her professional development.
In 2022, Morris purchased ReLakes from Alderson, a move that had been part of her plan since she began working in the area. Morris and her husband, Scott Morris, have two sons, Tavin, 14, and Axel, 11, who are both active in Taekwondo. Morris balances her professional commitments with her family life, often traveling for Tavin’s national competitions.
To celebrate the expansion and introduce the community to the new therapies, ReLakes Professional Massage will host its first open house on November 22, 2023, from 15:00 to 18:00. This event will allow attendees to tour the facility, meet the staff, and learn more about the available services.
Morris expressed her excitement about the open house, stating, “I’ve never had an open house since we moved here. It’ll be really nice for people to see our space.” Additionally, special promotions for Christmas gift cards will be offered, along with opportunities for attendees to win discounts on future bookings.
ReLakes Professional Massage operates from 08:15 to 20:30 Monday through Friday, 08:45 to 17:00 on Saturdays, and 10:00 to 15:00 or 17:00 on Sundays. Clients can easily schedule appointments through the ReLakes website or by calling 218-844-8898. This expansion reflects a growing trend in wellness services, focusing on holistic approaches to health and relaxation.
