CU Buffs Face Injury Crisis Ahead of ASU Showdown This Saturday
UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes are grappling with a significant injury crisis as they prepare to host Arizona State this Saturday at 6 p.m. (ESPN2). Key players, including left tackle Jordan Seaton and safety Ben Finneseth, are facing serious setbacks as the team looks to bounce back from a recent loss.
New reports from the Big 12 Conference confirm that Seaton is listed as questionable to play due to a lingering lower leg injury, potentially sidelining him for a second consecutive game. Seaton, a sophomore standout, has been a crucial part of the Buffs’ offensive line, starting the first 22 games of his career before missing the November 8 matchup against West Virginia.
Finneseth, who has played in six games this season and ranks 10th on the team with 27 tackles, is officially out for Saturday’s game. Despite appearing healthy during media engagements earlier this week, he will not take the field, adding to the Buffs’ growing list of absentees.
Head coach Deion Sanders addressed the injury situation, saying, “You hope to get guys back after a bye week, and some of those guys should make it back this week. Some of those guys may not. We have an injury bug for sure.”
In total, 16 players are currently reported on the availability list for the Buffs, indicating a challenging week leading into this critical game. Right tackle Larry Johnson III is also questionable after missing the previous game, along with several other key players. The list of those out includes cornerback RJ Johnson, defensive tackles Amari McNeill and Tawfiq Thomas, and backup long snapper Camden Dempsey.
Freshman linebacker Mantrez Walker is the only player listed as doubtful, while cornerback Makari Vickers, safety Carter Stoutmire, linebacker Jeremiah Brown, and defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain are all marked as questionable.
On the other side, Arizona State reports 12 players on their participation list, including star receiver Jordyn Tyson, who is also questionable after missing the last three games due to a hamstring injury. Tyson has practiced this week, raising hopes for his return.
As the Buffs gear up for this vital matchup at Folsom Field, the implications of these injuries are profound. Colorado must navigate this adversity if they hope to secure a win against ASU. The urgency is palpable, and fans are left to wonder who will step up in the absence of these key players.
With the clock ticking down to kickoff, the situation remains fluid. Watch for further updates as game day approaches, and stay tuned to see how the Buffs adapt to this challenging landscape.
