Harris Health Nears Completion of New Operations Center in Houston

Harris Health has marked a significant milestone in its ongoing development project with the recent topping off of its new operations facility in the Texas Medical Center. On November 11, 2023, officials placed the final steel beam atop the four-story structure, known as the Holly Hall Operations Center, located at 2525 Holly Hall St., Houston. This facility is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the county healthcare system’s pharmacy and emergency medical services.

The 145,275-square-foot center is part of a multi-year initiative aimed at consolidating various healthcare operations. It is projected to open in late 2026, according to Harris Health officials. The new operations center will support the county’s 16 outpatient pharmacies situated within health centers and specialty clinics, as detailed on the hospital’s website.

According to John Martinez, Media Relations Specialist for Harris Health, the new facility will introduce advanced automation systems and technology designed to meet current and future pharmacy needs. “It will feature centralized sterile compounding and inventory distribution services to maximize economies of scale, enhance cost-effectiveness, and improve operational efficiency,” Martinez explained in an email.

The construction of the Holly Hall Operations Center represents a significant investment in the county’s healthcare infrastructure. The estimated cost for this facility is $60 million, funded through Harris Health’s operational budget. This strategic investment aims to streamline pharmacy operations and improve service delivery for the community.
