Volkswagen Unveils New T-Roc R; Hot Model Set for 2027 Release
URGENT UPDATE: Volkswagen has just confirmed the launch of its highly anticipated T-Roc R, set to hit the market in 2027. This model is crucial for the brand, enhancing its presence in the competitive SUV segment. The T-Roc has already made waves, becoming Europe’s fourth best-selling model in 2023, with 170,931 units sold through October, according to sales data from Dataforce.
Deliveries for the new T-Roc are kicking off this month, and car enthusiasts are buzzing about the upcoming high-performance R version. While it remains cloaked in camouflage, initial details reveal that it will feature a powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine, shared with the latest Golf R, delivering an impressive 328 hp and 295 lb-ft (or 420 Newton-meters) of torque.
This new T-Roc R will incorporate a mild-hybrid setup, marking a significant shift towards efficiency as it aims to meet upcoming Euro 7 regulations. Although the power output is not expected to exceed that of the Golf R, the introduction of a 48-volt system indicates a focus on enhanced fuel efficiency.
The T-Roc R will sport eye-catching features, including 20-inch forged wheels and wider tires for improved grip. Autocritica’s close-up shots suggest aggressive bumpers and larger brakes, amplifying the vehicle’s sporty aesthetic. Notably, the T-Roc R will exclusively feature the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, as Volkswagen has discontinued the six-speed manual option.
However, the T-Roc R will not be available in the U.S. market, similar to the Golf R wagon, which many consider one of VW’s most complete offerings. As the R division gears up to phase out the Touareg R by 2026, the future looks electric, with hints about a fully electric R model in the pipeline.
With the automotive industry increasingly pivoting towards electrification, Volkswagen is at the forefront, already teasing a combustion-free Polo GTI. The T-Roc R stands as a testament to VW’s commitment to balancing performance with sustainability, making it a model to watch in the coming years.
Stay tuned for more updates as Volkswagen continues to evolve its lineup and tackle future automotive challenges. The T-Roc R is not just a car; it represents a significant step towards a more electrified and performance-driven future.
