Community Mourns the Passing of Mildred Dolores Louise Danko
Mildred Dolores Louise Danko, aged 89, passed away on November 12, 2025. Formerly of Republic, she leaves behind a legacy of community service and family connections. Mildred was the daughter of the late George and Suzanne Sheba Danko. She was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, her brother George Albert “Junior” Danko, and her great-nephew, Ryan Danko.
Her family includes her sister-in-law, Eloise Danko, of Ravenswood, West Virginia, and several beloved nephews and nieces. Among them are Roy David and Edward Michael, both from Ravenswood, along with John Thomas and Tonda from Fort Myers, Florida, and Albert Stanley and Crystal from Ravenswood. Mildred is also survived by numerous great-nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Mildred graduated from Redstone High School in 1954 and dedicated over 40 years to her career, retiring in 1996 from her role as secretary and office manager for the Penn State Cooperative Extension. Her influence extended beyond her professional life; she was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Church in Republic, where she actively participated in the Pastoral Council and Cemetery Committee, and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
In a notable achievement, Mildred became the first woman elected to the Board of Directors for the Fayette County Agricultural Improvement Association, where she also held the position of treasurer. Additionally, she was a licensed cosmetologist and participated in the Ladies Club of Tower Hill #2, showcasing her diverse interests and commitment to her community.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff, nurses, and aides at Monarch Meadow and OSPTA for the compassionate care provided to Mildred during her later years.
