Provo Man Arrested, Faces 12 Felonies for Sending CSAM
UPDATE: A Provo man, Josue Daniel McBride, aged 32, has been arrested and charged with 12 felonies for allegedly sending child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to an undercover officer. This urgent case has shocked the local community and highlights ongoing concerns about online child exploitation.
Authorities report that McBride was apprehended by the Lehi Police Department on November 10, 2025, following a complex online operation. The undercover officer posed as an adult male with a teenage nephew on the social media platform Reddit, triggering a disturbing exchange that escalated to the sharing of explicit content.
The investigation began on or around November 5, when the undercover officer created a post using emojis recognized by law enforcement as indicators of sexual attraction to children. Almost immediately, McBride responded, engaging in conversations that suggested a willingness to exploit minors. The officer reported that McBride expressed interest in the fictitious nephew and requested to view explicit images.
Court documents reveal that McBride allegedly sent videos of nude children, including one as young as 10, and solicited further images from the undercover officer. When communication slowed, McBride deleted messages, suggesting an awareness of the legal risks involved.
Detectives were able to identify McBride’s workplace and monitored his movements, leading to his arrest shortly after he left his job. He is currently being held without bail at the Utah County Jail.
The charges against McBride include two counts of enticing a minor, four counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and additional counts for distributing pornographic material. These allegations highlight the urgent need for vigilance in protecting children from online predators.
The case is a stark reminder of the dangers of online platforms and the importance of reporting suspected child exploitation. If you encounter or suspect CSAM, report it immediately to law enforcement or contact the ICAC Tip Line at (801) 281-1211.
As this case develops, community members are urged to remain alert and support ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable youth from exploitation. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
