Madison County Crowns April Lewin as Photo Contest Winner
Madison County has announced the winners of the 2025 Photo Contest, with April Lewin from Canastota taking home the grand prize. Her winning photograph, titled “Old barn in winter on Jones Rd. in Erieville, NY,” beautifully captures the essence of the town of Nelson and the surrounding area. Lewin’s work will be featured on the cover of the 2026 Madison County Calendar, and she has received a $200 gift card for the Peterboro Table restaurant, located in Morrisville.
Recognizing Local Talent
The Madison County Tourism Department, which co-hosted the contest, expressed gratitude to the Peterboro Table for sponsoring the grand prize. Alongside Lewin, winning photographs were selected from various towns within Madison County, showcasing the region’s diverse beauty. The winners from each town are as follows:

- Town of Eaton: Melissa Lynch
- Town of Cazenovia: Julie Wallace
- Town of Smithfield: Joanne Hurst

- Town of Hamilton: Arthur Foley
Congratulations were extended to all participants for highlighting what makes Madison County unique. The winning entries will be displayed in the hallway leading to the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Madison County Office Building in Wampsville. Additionally, these photographs will be included in the 2026 calendar, which is currently available for purchase.
Calendar Sales and Future Contests
The calendar features a total of 15 months and can be purchased for $5 at the County Office building in the Board of Supervisors Office. Interested buyers may also call (315) 366-2201 to order a copy for shipping or send an email to [email protected].
This year, Madison County received a remarkable 160 photo submissions from approximately 65 different photographers, demonstrating the community’s enthusiasm for the contest. The Madison County Office is eager to continue this annual tradition and encourages residents to capture the beauty of their surroundings in future contests.
