UPDATE: Central Texas local elections are heating up as several races are heading to runoff elections on Saturday, December 13, after no candidate secured a majority of votes. This is crucial for voters as the outcomes will shape local leadership for the coming years.

In the city of Buda, the race for City Council District C will see Kimberly Goodman and Jeffrey Morales face off, each garnering about 43% of the vote. Goodman, just 75 votes shy of outright victory, is determined to rally support ahead of the runoff.

Meanwhile, in Kyle, the race for mayor is set between Robert Rizo, who received 42%, and Yvonne Flores-Cale with 32%. Rizo was 422 votes short of the majority needed to avoid a runoff, igniting a competitive atmosphere leading up to December.

In another key contest, Kyle City Council District 1 incumbent Bear Heiser is set to battle Courtney Goza. Heiser tallied about 40% of the votes, falling 546 votes short of the threshold.

The Leander City Council Place 3 race will feature Natomi Blair and Anna Yelaun, with Blair receiving 47% of the votes, just 200 votes away from securing a majority.

In Pflugerville, Doug Weiss and Pat McCord will advance after Weiss collected 47%, while McCord received 35%. Weiss was 246 votes short of outright victory.

Lastly, the San Marcos City Council Place 2 runoff will see Josh Paselk take on incumbent Saul Gonzales. Paselk captured 35% of the vote but was 1,107 votes away from a majority.
