Amazon Announces 1,000 Seasonal Jobs in Central Valley for Holidays

Amazon has unveiled plans to hire 1,000 seasonal workers in the Central Valley as part of a broader initiative to fill 250,000 roles across the United States. This hiring surge comes ahead of the holiday season, with nearly 30,000 positions available in California alone. Of the jobs in the Central Valley, the FAT 1 facility in Fresno aims to fill 800 seasonal roles, while the FAT 2 facility in Visalia seeks to hire just over 450 workers.
The seasonal positions at Amazon promise competitive pay and flexible schedules. Many of these roles have the potential to transition into full-time employment, offering benefits that include health care starting on the first day, pre-paid tuition, a 401(k) savings match, and paid parental leave. This approach not only addresses immediate staffing needs but also provides opportunities for local residents to secure stable employment.
Economic Contribution and Workforce Development
In its recently released 2025 Economic Impact Report, Amazon highlighted its significant investments in California and across the nation. The company has invested over $1.5 trillion in the United States, with $218 billion dedicated to California. These investments have contributed approximately $221 billion to the state’s GDP, significantly impacting local economic growth and job creation.
Currently, Amazon employs more than 154,000 full-time and part-time workers in California, which supports an additional 147,000 indirect jobs throughout the state. The company’s data center investments have fostered thousands of skilled jobs and career pathways, with over $5 billion invested from 2011 to 2024, generating around 1,800 jobs in California.
David Koneck, general manager of the Amazon SBD6 Fulfillment Center in Ontario, California, emphasized the value of these seasonal roles. “Our seasonal roles provide a fantastic opportunity for people seeking additional income during the holidays while gaining valuable experience at Amazon,” he stated.
As the holiday season approaches, Amazon’s commitment to hiring in the Central Valley reflects its ongoing efforts to support local economies and provide meaningful employment opportunities. The combination of competitive pay, potential for full-time work, and extensive benefits positions these roles as attractive options for job seekers looking to enhance their income during this busy period.
