Brighton Marine Partners with Freespira to Enhance Veteran Care
Brighton Marine has announced a significant partnership with Freespira, Inc., marking a notable advancement in the mental health care available to service members and their families. According to a statement released on December 3, 2025, Freespira is the first FDA-cleared digital therapeutic aimed at treating panic attacks, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This collaboration will allow Brighton Marine Health Plan members to access this innovative treatment, beginning in November 2025.
Brighton Marine, a non-profit organization based in the United States, is dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare, housing, and support for military families. The integration of Freespira into their offerings showcases the organization’s commitment to leveraging pioneering technologies to enhance both the physical and mental health of veterans. Freespira’s treatment approach focuses on addressing the underlying physiological factors associated with panic and PTSD, offering a new avenue for those in need.
Dr. Rollinger from Brighton Marine expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re excited to bring Freespira to our members who deserve access to a proven, virtual-first treatment for panic disorder and PTSD.” He emphasized that Freespira could lead to both short and long-term reductions in the overwhelming symptoms associated with these conditions, ultimately empowering users to lead more fulfilling lives.
The Freespira treatment method operates by normalizing breathing irregularities that arise from carbon dioxide (CO2) hypersensitivity. By providing real-time feedback, the treatment trains users to better regulate their respiration and CO2 levels. This combination of a medical device and Telehealth support offers a comprehensive care experience, ensuring that patients receive guidance throughout their treatment journey. Each session lasts approximately 17 minutes and is recommended twice daily.
Joseph Perekupka, CEO of Freespira, highlighted the importance of this partnership in addressing the needs of those suffering from anxiety disorders. He remarked, “Brighton Marine recognizes the need for new evidence-based treatment options for the many who suffer from panic attacks and PTSD symptoms as an adjunct therapy.” Perekupka added that the partnership would enhance access to care by providing a convenient and effective treatment option.
Freespira, Inc. is recognized for its commitment to developing medication-free solutions that significantly improve the quality of life for individuals dealing with anxiety disorders. Their digital therapeutic has been proven to reduce or eliminate panic attacks and PTSD symptoms within just 28 days. The collaboration with Brighton Marine is a part of Freespira’s broader mission to support health plans, self-insured employers, and the Veterans Administration in promoting effective mental health care while reducing medical expenditures.
As Brighton Marine continues to support military-connected families through coordinated health care and various services, this partnership with Freespira represents a forward-thinking approach to mental health treatment. The integration of such innovative therapies could have a profound impact on the lives of veterans and their families, ensuring they have access to the tools necessary for mental well-being.
