Rolette Record Sold to Cando Men, New Ownership Takes Charge
UPDATE: The ownership of the Rolette Record has officially changed hands, as Roy B. Miller and Gene Farley take over the farmer-owned weekly newspaper. This urgent development was confirmed on November 30, 1929, signaling a new chapter for the publication and its readers in Rolette.
The sale to Miller, who is also the owner and editor of the Cando Record, and Farley, a linotype operator with five years of experience under Miller, comes from a group of local farmers who previously owned the paper. The transition is set to have immediate implications for the paper’s direction and community engagement.
E. W. Dickinson, the managing editor under the previous ownership, has announced his departure from Rolette but has not disclosed his future plans. This shift in leadership opens a new era for the Rolette Record, which has been a staple in the area for 25 years, founded by Charles W. Sibley.
According to the new owners, the Rolette Record will maintain its politically independent stance, a commitment that resonates with its loyal readership. The first issue under the new editorial leadership will be published next week, with Joseph Lemieux stepping in as Farley’s assistant.
This transition is not just about a change in ownership; it reflects the dynamic nature of local journalism and its ability to adapt to the needs of the community. As the new team prepares to take the helm, both Miller and Farley are expected to bring fresh perspectives to the publication, ensuring it remains a vital source of information for the residents of Rolette and beyond.
Stay tuned for the upcoming issue of the Rolette Record, which will mark the beginning of this exciting new chapter in its history. This development underscores the importance of local media in fostering community connections and providing timely news coverage.
