Urgent: Vehicle Fire Closes Lanes on I-215 in Salt Lake City
UPDATE: Two lanes are closed on westbound I-215 after a vehicle fire ignited following a crash near 625 W earlier today. Utah Highway Patrol confirmed the incident occurred around 10:15 AM and officials are urging drivers to seek alternate routes.
The vehicle reportedly collided with the barrier before catching fire, leading to significant traffic disruptions. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and both occupants were transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, they are reported to be in stable condition.
This incident is creating major delays in the area, with traffic backed up for miles. Commuters are advised to avoid the westbound lanes of I-215 until further notice as cleanup and investigation efforts continue.
Authorities are currently working to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow. It is unclear when the lanes will reopen, but updates will be provided as they become available.
