URGENT UPDATE: Mid-Missouri motorists are facing significant travel disruptions due to extensive roadwork scheduled from December 1-7. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has confirmed multiple projects, including culvert replacements, bridge rehabilitations, and pedestrian facility upgrades, all of which will lead to lane closures and delays.

Drivers are urged to remain cautious as work zones will be active throughout the region. In Boone County, expect single-lane, flagger-controlled traffic on Route 124. Meanwhile, Callaway County will see similar restrictions on Routes E and J, potentially causing significant slowdowns.

As commuters navigate these changes, those traveling along I-70 should prepare for ongoing long-term impacts due to the “Improve I-70 Program,” which is set to last until 2027. This initiative aims to enhance safety and traffic flow but will require patience from drivers.

In Cole County, U.S. Route 50 will undergo pedestrian facility upgrades, resulting in potential right-turn lane closures from Broadway, Jefferson, and Monroe streets during work hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additionally, major reroutes will affect U.S. Route 63 at the Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) interchange, with Lenoir Street remaining closed. This construction is projected to continue until early December 2025, impacting daily commuters significantly.

Further road maintenance will occur in Laclede, Maries, and Morgan counties, where daily lane restrictions for culvert replacements will result in single-lane travel and delays.

Residents are advised to plan alternate routes and allow extra time for their journeys during this period. The MoDOT emphasizes the importance of adhering to posted signage and flagger instructions to ensure safety for both workers and drivers.

Stay tuned for further updates as this situation develops.
