UPDATE: The Hartford Wolf Pack faced a tough start to their season, dropping their home opener to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins with a final score of 5-2 on October 13, 2023, at PeoplesBank Arena.

The Penguins swiftly established dominance, securing a 3-0 lead early in the game. Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Atley Calvert both found the net in the first period, followed by a third goal from Avery Hayes just minutes into the second. The Wolf Pack (0-2-0-0) struggled to respond as the Penguins continued to apply pressure.

It wasn’t until 16:41 of the second period that the Wolf Pack broke through, with Gabe Perreault scoring, assisted by Dylan Roobroeck and Blake Hillman. This goal reignited hope for the home crowd, but the Penguins’ offensive prowess proved too strong throughout the match.

In the third period, Adam Sykora pulled Hartford closer, scoring at 6:50 with assists from Derrick Pouliot and Conner Mackey. However, Calvert responded, netting his second goal at 11:53, effectively quelling the Wolf Pack’s momentum. The game concluded with an empty-netter from Tristan Broz at 17:53, sealing the Penguins’ victory.

Goalies played a crucial role, with Sergei Murashov stopping 28 shots for the Penguins, while Dylan Garand managed 27 saves for Hartford.

The Wolf Pack will look to bounce back quickly as they prepare for their next game against Providence tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Fans are eager to see if the team can turn the tide and secure their first victory of the season. Stay tuned for updates as the Wolf Pack continue their chase for redemption.
