USC Clinches Thrilling 107-106 Win with Buzzer-Beater in 3OT
UPDATE: In a heart-pounding finish, the University of Southern California (USC) triumphed over Troy with a stunning 107-106 victory on November 30, 2023, thanks to a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Jordan Marsh. This game, held in Los Angeles, extended into three overtimes, showcasing sheer determination and skill from both teams.
The night belonged to Chad Baker-Mazara, who scored a career-high 34 points, but it was Marsh’s last-second shot that sealed the deal. With just ten seconds left in the third overtime, a critical turnover by Troy allowed USC to seize the moment. Rodney Rice collected the loose ball and passed it to Marsh, who drilled the three-pointer almost straightaway as the clock expired.
Troy, fresh off a dramatic 108-107 double-overtime win against San Diego State just two days prior, had led for much of the final period. However, their inability to maintain control in the closing seconds proved costly. Rice also made a significant contribution, tallying 26 points and nine assists, while Ezra Ausar added 22 points to the mix for USC, now standing at 4-0 this season.
On the opposing side, Cooper Campbell shone for Troy, scoring 32 points and hitting crucial shots throughout the game, including a late three-pointer that forced the first overtime. His efforts, complemented by Victor Valdes with 24 points and Theo Send with 20 points, were not enough to secure the victory as Troy fell to 4-3.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, which ended in a 29-29 deadlock, featuring a total of 15 lead changes. As the game progressed, the tension escalated, and both sides exchanged blows through each overtime, with fans on the edge of their seats.
As USC celebrates this thrilling victory, all eyes will be on their next matchup as they look to maintain their unbeaten streak. The close nature of this game highlights the competitive spirit of college basketball, proving once again that every second counts.
Stay tuned for more updates and watch for USC’s upcoming games, as this young team continues to make waves this season.
