Urgent Search for Cowboys’ Kneeland Ends in Tragedy After 160 mph Chase
UPDATE: A desperate search for Dallas Cowboys’ player Marshawn Kneeland ended tragically early on Nov. 6, 2023, when he was found dead from an apparent suicide following a high-speed police chase that reached speeds of up to 160 mph. Authorities confirm the chaotic events began hours earlier when officers attempted to stop Kneeland’s vehicle in suburban Dallas.
The pursuit unfolded on the Dallas North Tollway at approximately 10:33 p.m., with reports indicating Kneeland was driving a Dodge Charger. Initial speeds recorded exceeded 145 mph, but video footage suggests the chase may have surged to 160 mph before Kneeland crashed into a Ford F-350 at around 10:42 p.m.. Eyewitness accounts reveal the terrifying moment, with one driver recalling, “I saw him in my rearview mirror… he just plowed into me.”
After abandoning his vehicle, Kneeland evaded law enforcement, prompting officers to launch an extensive search involving K-9 units and drones. The search intensified around 11:20 p.m. as authorities probed a nearby wooded area and drainage tunnels, with a Frisco officer warning, “If you’re in this tunnel, I’m going to send my dog in here.” Despite their efforts, Kneeland eluded capture as officers were unaware of his identity until around 1 a.m..
During the frantic hours, Kneeland’s girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, who was briefly detained at the scene, informed officers that he was in crisis, stating, “He’s going to kill himself. I can’t tell you where he’s at.” As the search continued, it became clear that Kneeland had been sending goodbye messages to friends and family, heightening fears for his safety.
Ultimately, Kneeland’s body was tragically discovered inside a portable toilet, bringing an end to the search that had gripped the region throughout the night. Mancera expressed her heartbreak on social media, saying, “My sweet boy is really gone… I will see you again.” The Dallas Cowboys organization has announced the establishment of a memorial fund to support Mancera, who is pregnant with their child.
This heartbreaking incident raises significant concerns regarding mental health, particularly in high-pressure environments like professional sports. The National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available at 988 for those in need of support.
As developments continue to unfold, fans and the broader community are left mourning the loss of a promising young athlete whose life ended far too soon.
