Tragic Death of Model Renee Biran, 56, After Weight Loss Battle
UPDATE: Renee Biran, a former plus-sized model who weighed over 631 lbs, has tragically died at the age of 56 after a long and tumultuous battle with obesity and health complications. Biran’s passing occurred on May 14, 2021, in Tennessee, just three years after a harrowing hospital incident where her heart and kidneys began to fail.
Biran, who gained fame through her appearances on the reality series My 600lb Life, became a controversial figure as she was known for her participation in a ‘fat fetish’ community where she was paid to eat. Her weight spiraled out of control, leading to an urgent hospital visit during a trip to a weight loss clinic when she feared for her life. “I want to get me to see a doctor that can put some oxygen in my body. I don’t want to die in this car,” she expressed in a panic to her husband.
After being rushed to the hospital, doctors confirmed that her organs were shutting down, and she was hospitalized until she lost three stone, only to struggle again with her health. Renee attempted to follow doctors’ advice to engage in regular water aerobics but faced setbacks in her weight loss journey. Ultimately, she achieved a remarkable total weight loss of 30 stone after undergoing psychotherapy and gastric sleeve surgery.
Despite her progress, Biran’s health deteriorated due to a rare autoimmune disease known as Guillain-Barre syndrome, which leads to muscle weakness and paralysis. The condition forced her to move into a nursing home where she ultimately passed away.
Renee’s life serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles faced by those battling obesity and the impact of mental health on physical well-being. Her story has resonated with many and raises awareness about the complexities of weight loss and the importance of addressing underlying issues.
As the community mourns her loss, discussions surrounding the challenges of obesity and mental health continue to gain traction. Renee Biran’s journey reminds us of the urgent need for support and understanding for those facing similar battles.
