The collision, deemed intentional, has left the community in shock as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

The incident unfolded just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Winchester Boulevard and Tisch Way. When officers arrived, they discovered a woman lying in the roadway. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after her arrival.

Police have yet to release the victim’s identity, pending notification of her next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. However, early investigations suggest that the collision was not accidental, raising serious concerns within the community.

“Preliminary information indicated the collision was an intentional act,” said San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay in a news release.

The suspect has been identified as Yanette Beas Solorio, who was apprehended approximately two miles away from the scene in Santa Clara. She has been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail and is currently being held without bail.

This incident marks the 24th homicide in San Jose this year, a stark contrast to 29 homicides recorded at this time last year. The city is grappling with a surge in violent crime, prompting urgent calls for community safety and support.
