Minneapolis Weather Alert: Rain and Cool Temps Hit This Week
UPDATE: Minneapolis residents brace for a week of unpredictable weather, with forecasts from the National Weather Service predicting a mix of sun and showers starting today. The city will experience a comfortable day with highs reaching near 63 degrees, but a significant shift is on the horizon as rain is expected to roll in late Monday night.
The calm weather will give way to a 60% chance of precipitation after 1 a.m. Monday, with rain amounts estimated between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. This incoming storm is set to disrupt the otherwise peaceful autumn atmosphere many have been enjoying.
As the rain continues into Tuesday, the likelihood increases to 70%, likely leaving a damp layer over the city. Evening temperatures will cool down to about 43 degrees, making for a chilly night. Residents are advised to prepare for wet conditions as they venture out.
The NWS continues to predict a persistent pattern of rain throughout the week, with a 50% chance of rain Tuesday night. New precipitation amounts are again expected to range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, keeping spirits dampened for outdoor plans.
However, there is a silver lining midweek. Wednesday will see a break from the rain, with partly sunny conditions returning and highs around 53 degrees. Despite the respite, temperatures will remain cool, especially at night, which will drop into the low 30s.
Looking ahead to Thursday and the weekend, expect partly sunny skies with temperatures hovering around 52 degrees during the day. A light west-southwest wind at speeds of 5 to 10 mph will offer a bit of relief, but residents should still consider light jackets for outdoor activities.
As Minneapolitans gear up for the weekend, Saturday’s forecast promises partly sunny conditions with highs again near 53 degrees. The changing weather will undoubtedly impact weekend plans, so staying informed is crucial.
