‘Mickey Brasch’ Film Crew Shoots in Oklahoma Amid Exciting Debut
UPDATE: Producers of the upcoming film ‘Mickey Brasch’ are making waves in Oklahoma, as they capture cinematic magic in Chandler and surrounding areas. The crew, led by writer and star Matthew Del Negro, is currently on Day 12 of a 15-day shooting schedule, showcasing the state’s unique charm and vibrant community.
Just this morning, the Route 66 bowling alley in Chandler buzzed with activity as actors, directors, and crew members prepped for scenes. Del Negro, who has nurtured the script for over a decade, expressed enthusiasm for filming in Oklahoma, stating, “You can’t find this anywhere except here.” Locations chosen include Guthrie and Edmond, further highlighting the region’s cinematic potential.
Filming comes with a budget of just under $150,000, a testament to the dedication and resourcefulness of the team. Del Negro’s passion for the project is palpable; he noted the long journey from concept to production, saying, “I’d put it away for a while and then get it out. I couldn’t get rid of it.”
The film centers around a struggling writer’s quest to reconnect with his family, aiming for a fall 2026 release. The project was significantly funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, demonstrating strong community support and interest.
Amid the hustle, actress Kate Alpers shared insights about her role, playfully addressing concerns from onlookers about her character’s angst-ridden demeanor. “Yes,” she laughed, “I’ve had people coming up to me all shoot long and ask, ‘Are you okay? Are you mad or something?’ And I’m like, ‘No, this is just the character face. It kind of lingers.'”
The film crew’s experience underscores a broader truth: the people of Oklahoma, along with the picturesque locations, serve as vital characters in the storytelling process. Director Blake Robbins emphasized, “I like to take the community and fold the film into it,” showcasing a collaborative spirit that resonates with local audiences.
As production progresses, fans can follow updates on the film’s official Instagram page. The excitement surrounding ‘Mickey Brasch’ reflects not only a growing film industry in Oklahoma but also highlights the cultural richness of the area.
