Man Arrested Following Gunfire in Hartford Road Rage Incident
URGENT UPDATE: A man has been arrested following a dramatic road rage incident that escalated into gunfire in Hartford on July 6, 2023. Police responded to reports of shots fired near Park and Washington Streets just before 8:40 PM, where they discovered a vehicle with apparent gunfire damage.
According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department, the driver who called police reported being shot at during the confrontation. Miraculously, no injuries were reported in the incident, but the situation quickly drew the attention of local law enforcement.
Police quickly shared a description of the suspect’s vehicle, leading to a swift response from the Hartford Police Violent Crimes Unit and the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force. Officers successfully located and apprehended the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Lorenzo Dunn of Hartford.
Inside Dunn’s vehicle, authorities discovered a firearm and narcotics, raising further concerns about the incident’s severity. Boisvert confirmed that Dunn had an outstanding warrant for an earlier assault involving a firearm, highlighting a troubling pattern of violent behavior.
Dunn now faces multiple charges, including:
– Criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault
– First-degree reckless endangerment
– Illegal discharge of a firearm
– Criminal possession of a firearm
– Carrying a pistol without a permit
– Weapons in a motor vehicle
– Possession of narcotics
– Possession of narcotics with intent to sell
He has been taken to the Hartford Police Detention Facility where he awaits further legal proceedings. The incident underscores the escalating issue of road rage and its potential dangers on city streets.
