Kamala Harris Hints at 2028 Presidential Run in Urgent Interview
UPDATE: Former Vice President Kamala Harris has left the door open for a potential run in the 2028 presidential election, according to a revealing interview with the BBC released on Saturday. Harris stated she believes a woman will occupy the presidency soon and hinted that it could “possibly” be her.
In the urgent interview, she declared, “I am not done,” confirming that while she hasn’t made a final decision regarding a 2028 campaign, she remains a key player in the Democratic Party. “I have lived my entire career a life of service and it’s in my bones,” she emphasized, dismissing any notion that she would face insurmountable odds.
Harris, aged 61, has been actively engaging with the media following the release of her new book, “107 Days,” which reflects on her time stepping in for President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee after his unexpected withdrawal from the 2024 race. Ultimately, she lost to RepublicanDonald Trump.
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Harris reiterated that running in 2028 is indeed on her radar. “I haven’t decided. Sincerely. I have not decided. I may or I may not,” she stated, adding that the only path to the presidency is to “run” and “win.” This statement underscores her ongoing interest in leading the party and confronting Trump, especially as the 2026 midterms approach.
Political maneuvering among Democrats is ramping up earlier than expected for the 2028 race. Key figures like California Governor Gavin Newsom, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and California Representative Ro Khanna are already connecting with voters in critical states. With potentially over 30 high-profile Democrats considering a run, the competition is heating up.
As Harris continues to weigh her options, her remarks signal a readiness to engage in a competitive landscape, making it clear that the fight for the Democratic nomination is just beginning. The political world is watching closely for her next move.
