Fairview Football Dominates Arapahoe 78-28 in Playoff Clash
URGENT UPDATE: Fairview High School’s football team delivered a stunning performance, crushing Arapahoe High School 78-28 in the Class 5A second-round playoffs at Recht Field on November 14, 2025. This decisive victory not only showcases Fairview’s offensive might but also sets the stage for a high-stakes matchup against the top-ranked Cherry Creek next week.
The Knights, seeded eighth, faced off against ninth-seeded Arapahoe, coming off a season that saw them struggle against a formidable schedule. However, on this night, it was Fairview that unleashed a barrage of scoring, with junior quarterback Ki Ellison and senior wide receiver Sabi Ruttgers leading the charge. Ellison threw for 311 yards and rushed for another 115 yards, while Ruttgers accounted for 244 yards and five touchdowns.
As the game unfolded, Fairview quickly turned the tide after a competitive first quarter that ended with Arapahoe holding a narrow 21-15 lead. Chaos ensued as Fairview’s offense found its rhythm, showcasing both precision and power. “I always knew I was good, but this honestly proved it to myself and honestly the state too,” Ruttgers stated. “Everyone was told it’d be a real close game, and we came out here and mercy-ruled them. It’s insane.”
The Knights’ offensive onslaught included three touchdowns from senior standout Toray Davis, who added to the Warriors’ woes. In a first half that ended 36-21 in favor of Fairview, the Knights also demonstrated defensive prowess, with crucial stops including a blocked punt leading to a touchdown pass to Davis and an interception by Ellison.
“I knew my moment was coming. I was excited,” Ellison remarked about his interception, which came at a pivotal moment in the game. “I just jumped the route. Got me one. I think it just shows that I’m an athlete. I’m a dawg. I can go both ways.”
As the match progressed, it became clear that Fairview was not merely a product of a weak schedule. Their performance against a respected opponent like Arapahoe, who emerged from the tough Centennial League, has raised eyebrows across the state. “There’s such a hunger for victory, and you really want to play the best teams,” head coach Tom McCartney commented. “When No. 8 plays No. 9, it’s a top-10 matchup. Let’s show everybody when we play great teams what we can do.”
With this emphatic victory, Fairview has positioned itself as a formidable contender in the playoffs. Fans are eagerly anticipating their next challenge against Cherry Creek, where the Knights will look to capitalize on their momentum. As the excitement builds, one thing is clear: Fairview’s football program is ready to make waves in the postseason.
