Edgewater’s Ben Jones Earns Army All-American Invite, Set for Bowl
BREAKING: Edgewater offensive tackle Ben Jones has officially been invited to the prestigious US Army All-American Bowl, set to take place on December 21 in Frisco, Texas. This recognition comes as a major accomplishment for Jones, who has been a vital part of the Eagles’ undefeated season, currently standing at 9-0.
Jones, formerly known as Ben Bankowitz, expressed his gratitude, stating, “It feels really good. I try to not think about it too much, just give the glory to God, but it does feel really good.” The 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman has been instrumental in solidifying Edgewater’s offensive line since his freshman year, helping lead the team to a strong season and the title of Class 7A, District 5 Champions.
As the Eagles prepare for their upcoming rivalry game against Boone on October 30, Jones emphasizes the team’s commitment, stating, “We’re not close to done. In our minds, we still got six more games.” His dedication to honing his skills has earned him recognition as one of the top offensive linemen in the state, ranking No. 43 in the Sentinel’s 2026 Central Florida Super60.
Jones has committed to playing for Appalachian State, citing the team’s culture and coaching staff as key factors in his decision. He remarked, “I feel like App State is overachieving with the coaches they have,” referring to the Mountaineers’ offensive line coach, Allen Mogridge, who has a strong background in Central Florida.
Jones credits his former offensive line coach, Chris Jamison, with much of his development, while he also recognizes the contributions of current coaches Shermane TeArt and Kenny Thomas. Known for his technical skills and agility, he has prepared to transition to the interior line in college.
The Eagles’ unity has been pivotal this season, especially after former head coach Cameron Duke left for a position in Georgia. Jones highlighted the team’s commitment to staying together, saying, “We had team meetings and we talked every day about how we had to have the whole team stay on track during the offseason.” This dedication has clearly paid off, as the team remains focused on their championship goals.
As the Eagles look to continue their winning streak, all eyes will be on Jones as he prepares for the Army All-American Bowl. His journey exemplifies the hard work and dedication that can lead to recognition at the highest levels of high school football. Keep an eye on this rising star as he aims to make an impact both on and off the field.
