UPDATE: In a stunning performance, the Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team dominated Portland State with a decisive 77-45 victory at the CU Events Center in Boulder, Colorado, earlier today. Freshman sensation Logyn Greer led the charge with a season-high 19 points as the Buffs improved to 2-1 this season.

The Buffs showcased exceptional teamwork and defensive prowess, especially in the second half, where they extended their lead from a 14-point halftime advantage to a commanding 23-point margin entering the fourth quarter. Greer’s scoring surge included 10 points during a pivotal third quarter, solidifying her role as a key player on the team.

“Great win,” said Buffs head coach JR Payne. “We rebounded incredibly well in the second half. Lots of different people scoring.”

Greer, who described her early season experience as feeling like “a deer in headlights,” is quickly finding her rhythm. “Now I’m really starting to get into it and just understand and just play with pace,” she stated after the game.

Alongside Greer, Zyanna Walker contributed significantly with eight points, five steals, and six assists, while Anaelle Dutat added six points and 10 rebounds. The Buffs demonstrated their depth, with four players scoring eight points each, showcasing a balanced offensive attack.

Defensively, the Buffs were relentless, holding the Vikings to just 36.4% shooting and forcing a staggering 26 turnovers. This marked the team’s highest steals total since November 2023, with 18 steals recorded during the game.

The Buffs’ next challenge comes on Tuesday at 7 p.m., when they host Boise State at the CU Events Center. This matchup presents a critical opportunity for the team to build on their momentum.

Notably, the game also featured a tribute to former star Jaylyn Sherrod, who was honored with a place on the Wall of Honor. Sherrod, now with the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, made history as the first former Buff to win a WNBA championship in 2024.

With Greer’s performance highlighting the Buffs’ potential, fans are eager to see how this talented freshman continues to grow and contribute in upcoming games. The excitement surrounding the team is palpable, and they seem poised for a promising season.
