Beloved Ballston Spa Mayor Christine Fitzpatrick Passes Away
BREAKING: Christine M. Fitzpatrick, the beloved former mayor of Ballston Spa, has passed away at the age of 75. Her family announced her death on November 24, 2025, leaving a profound impact on her community and many lives she touched throughout her career.
Known for her dedication to public service and advocacy, Fitzpatrick was a trailblazer as the first female mayor of Ballston Spa. Her leadership transformed the village’s financial landscape, turning a $300,000 deficit into a robust $4.8 million fund balance. Fitzpatrick’s commitment to improving community accessibility and citizen involvement led to the successful execution of master plans that fostered growth and inclusivity.
Born on April 21, 1950, in Manhattan, New York, Christine was raised in Queens among her five siblings. Her academic journey began at St. Joseph’s Grammar School, followed by Saint Helena High School, and culminated in a bachelor’s degree in history from St. John’s University. She later pursued a master’s degree, demonstrating her lifelong dedication to education.
Throughout her varied career, Fitzpatrick worked as an elementary school teacher, a public servant at the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and later as an executive director at the New York State Adult Day Health Care Council. Her passion for advocacy led her to negotiate health benefit contracts for New York State employees, solidifying her role as a leader in her field.
Christine Fitzpatrick’s legacy is not only marked by her professional achievements but also by her warmth and resilience. She was known for her love of family, literature, and the arts, often bringing people together through her lively spirit and thoughtful gestures. Her partner, Richard Dautner, and many friends and family members will remember her as a beacon of love and inspiration.
In a statement, her family expressed their sorrow and invited the community to honor her memory. “Christine’s spirit will live on through the stories and relationships she cultivated,” they said. “Her legacy as a steadfast advocate for community engagement will be cherished.”
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa.
