Antigone G. Sotos, 88, Passes Away Surrounded by Family
UPDATE: Antigone G. Sotos, aged 88, of West Lawn, Pennsylvania, has passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her cherished family members. Her death marks the loss of a beloved matriarch known for her warmth, culinary talents, and deep-rooted Greek heritage.
Antigone was predeceased by her husband, Lambros G. Sotos, in 2014, with whom she shared an inspiring 52 years of marriage. Born in Neochori, Greece, on December 14, 1936, she immigrated to the United States in 1963, where she became a dedicated seamstress, working for prominent companies such as Letisse, Inc. from 1963 to 1986 and later at Juliette Originals and Narrow Fabrics until 2002.
Her legacy is rooted in her strong family values and her love for traditional Greek cooking. Antigone took immense joy in preparing elaborate meals for her children and grandchildren, often delighting them with her famous seven-course weekend feasts. She is survived by her three children: George L. (companion of Kelly Gahan), Fani L. (wife of James Polyak), and Eleni L., along with five grandchildren: Samantha, Evan, Nicholas, Alexia, and Ajay.
Her connection to her heritage was evident through her active involvement at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Reading, where she was a beloved member. Services for Antigone will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the church, with Rev. Father Theodore Petrides presiding. Attendees can pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service.
Following the service, interment will take place at Charles Evans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the church in her memory. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. in West Reading is handling the arrangements.
This heartfelt loss resonates deeply within the community, as family and friends remember Antigone as a loving figure who brought joy and comfort to those around her.
