The Sacramento Kings seized the opportunity to secure a dramatic 117-112 overtime victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves, exploiting Minnesota’s second consecutive late-game collapse. DeMar DeRozan led the Kings with 33 points, including crucial free throws that helped tie the game in the closing seconds of regulation.

In a game held in Sacramento, the Timberwolves appeared to be in control with a ten-point lead and only three minutes remaining. However, after a series of missed shots, they allowed the Kings to rally back. Anthony Edwards failed to convert a jumper that could have sealed the game for Minnesota, while DeRozan and Malik Monk also missed on the final possession of regulation, sending the match into overtime.

In their preceding game on Friday night, the Timberwolves suffered a heartbreaking 114-113 loss to the Phoenix Suns after squandering an eight-point advantage in the final minute. This latest defeat drops them to a record of 10-7, marking a troubling trend for the team.

The Kings, on the other hand, have shown resilience, winning their second consecutive game after previously breaking an eight-game losing streak with a 128-123 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Currently, Sacramento holds a record of 5-13.

DeRozan’s performance was notable not just for his scoring; he made all 15 free throw attempts, demonstrating his effectiveness at the line. Keegan Murray contributed significantly as well, finishing with 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Monk added 22 points to the Kings’ total.

Despite the loss, Edwards had an impressive outing for the Timberwolves, scoring 43 points, showcasing his scoring prowess. His teammates Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo each contributed 17 points, while Naz Reid added 15 points.

Looking ahead, the Timberwolves will face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night in an NBA Cup game. The Kings will host the Phoenix Suns the same evening, both teams seeking to build momentum from their recent performances.
