Gloversville Hosts Holiday Parade and Window Contest for Businesses
The city of Gloversville is gearing up for its annual holiday celebration on December 6, 2023, featuring a festive parade and a window-decorating contest aimed at local businesses. The Gloversville Recreation Commission is organizing both events, promising an evening filled with holiday cheer for residents and visitors alike.
Businesses along the parade route are invited to participate in the window-decorating contest, which will award prizes of $200, $100, and $50 for the most creative displays. To be eligible for judging, all decorations must be completed by December 4. Those interested in entering can register by emailing [email protected].
Parade Details and Festivities
The holiday parade is set to begin at 5 p.m., starting at the intersection of North Main Street and 8th Avenue and concluding at Forest and Vine streets. Following the parade, the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place, with the winners of the window-decorating contest announced during the event.
As a highlight of the evening, Santa Claus will make a special appearance, bringing joy to children and families. After the parade, attendees can stroll to Wandel Park, where complimentary cookies and cocoa will be served alongside festive music. Families will also have the opportunity to take photos with Santa, creating lasting holiday memories.
For those wishing to join the parade, registration is available online at https://tinyurl.com/bd9mf6x8. Participants are reminded to leave the Santa costumes at home, as the jolly figure will arrive in his own attire.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date for the parade and tree lighting will be December 7.
The Gloversville Recreation Commission encourages all community members to partake in the festivities, supporting local businesses while celebrating the holiday spirit.
