Port Arthur Sets Date for Annual Community Cleanup on Nov. 1
The Port Arthur Beautification Commission has announced its annual Keep Port Arthur Beautiful Fall Sweep, scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025. This community-wide cleanup invites residents to join efforts aimed at enhancing the city’s environment and public spaces.
The event will commence at 7:30 a.m. with sign-in at the Pavilion, located at 500 Procter Street. Volunteers will be treated to a complimentary breakfast featuring coffee, juice, and Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches. Each participant will receive cleanup tools and a T-shirt while supplies last, before heading out to designated locations across the city.
Focus Areas for Cleanup
This year’s cleanup will concentrate on four key areas: the Pavilion, Rose Hill Park, Barbara Jacquet Park (Gilliam Circle), and Memorial Boulevard (between 26th and 39th Streets). After the cleanup, volunteers will reconvene at the Pavilion for lunch to celebrate their achievements.
Under the guidance of Clayton Clark, Port Arthur recently received the Gold Star Affiliate designation from Keep Texas Beautiful, the organization’s highest accolade. This recognition underscores the city’s ongoing commitment to fostering civic pride, sustainability, and community involvement.
Community Engagement and Vision
Beautification Commissioner Pastor Wanda L. Bodden highlighted the importance of the Fall Sweep as more than just a cleanup effort. “It’s an investment in the city’s future,” Bodden stated. “Our vision is to make Port Arthur a beacon of community pride. We want our youth to see this as a place worth returning to and a city that attracts new businesses and families.”
Bodden also stressed the significance of collaboration among residents, city departments, and local organizations in maintaining Port Arthur’s reputation for cleanliness and civic engagement.
To ensure adequate food and supplies, volunteers are encouraged to RSVP by Thursday, October 30. “Let’s bring back the glory,” Bodden added. “Together, we can make Port Arthur a safe, thriving, and beautiful community for everyone.”
The Fall Sweep presents a valuable opportunity for residents to come together, take pride in their surroundings, and contribute to the ongoing beautification of Port Arthur.
