Maurice Man Killed in Lafayette Parish Car Accident on Sunday

A tragic incident occurred on March 3, 2024, in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle. Ricky Verret, a 37-year-old resident of Maurice, was walking on the right shoulder of southbound Johnston Street, also known as U.S. Highway 167, around 20:00 local time.

According to a spokesperson from the Louisiana State Police, Verret stepped into the roadway near Leblanc Road and into the path of a southbound Jeep Wrangler that was towing a trailer.
