Austin Animal Services has partnered with Greater Good Charities to provide a free spay/neuter clinic for pets in Austin and Travis County. This initiative will run from November 13 to November 17, 2025, offering essential services to pet owners who may struggle with the financial burden of veterinary care.

The clinic aims to address the ongoing issue of animal overpopulation, which contributes to a rise in stray and homeless animals. In addition to spay and neuter procedures, the clinic will also provide free vaccinations, microchips, and flea and tick prevention treatments. Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services, emphasized the importance of this program, stating, “As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to making sure every pet owner—no matter their income or neighborhood—has access to the services that keep pets healthy and communities safe.”

This clinic marks the sixth such event in the past year, collectively helping over 5,000 pets through previous initiatives. For this upcoming event, organizers expect to assist an additional 1,200 animals. Traditionally, the costs for spay and neuter surgeries can range from $75 to several hundred dollars, often resulting in long wait times for appointments. The free services offered during this clinic effectively eliminate these financial barriers.

Pet owners planning to attend the clinic should arrive early at the designated location: 11580 Stonehollow Dr., Suite 160, Austin, TX 78758. Services will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis, with registration available from 6:00 am to 10:00 am each day, or until capacity is reached. This initiative is part of a broader effort aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring community safety.

Future plans for additional clinics are already underway for early 2026. While large crowds are anticipated, organizers believe the benefits to both pets and their owners will outweigh any logistical challenges. The community-based nature of this effort highlights a commitment to providing accessible healthcare for animals in Austin, reinforcing the city’s progressive stance on social issues that extend beyond human welfare.

This spay/neuter clinic not only addresses immediate health needs but also works toward reducing the number of unwanted litters and roaming animals in neighborhoods. By fostering responsible pet ownership, Austin Animal Services and Greater Good Charities aim to enhance the quality of life for pets and their owners alike.
