He bravely faced pancreatic cancer for over a year before his death, just days shy of his 64th birthday on October 31.

Born in Montreal, Canada, and raised in Suffolk, Virginia, Ballard pursued his passion for architecture at the University of Virginia. It was there that he met his future wife, Mary Ellen Vance. The couple shared a love for adventure, leading them to live in various cities, including Norfolk, London, and Hong Kong, where they began their family and forged lasting friendships.

Throughout his career, Andre Ballard made significant contributions to prominent architectural projects in Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, and Saudi Arabia. He was particularly proud of his work on the City of Dreams in Macau, a project designed by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid.
