Eight Sleep Pod 4 Takes Top Honors in Tom’s Guide Sleep Awards 2025
The Eight Sleep Pod 4 has been awarded the title of Best Smart Bed in the inaugural Tom’s Guide Sleep Awards 2025. This innovative mattress cover combines advanced technology with personalized comfort to enhance sleep quality for users. Featuring capabilities such as sleep tracking, individual climate control, and a vibration alarm, the Eight Sleep Pod 4 is designed to elevate the at-home sleep experience.
Revolutionizing Sleep with Advanced Technology
While the Eight Sleep Pod 4 is classified as a smart mattress cover rather than a complete bed, its functionality is impressive. It fits over existing mattresses (between 10 and 16 inches tall) and is equipped with thin water tubes that connect to a bedside control hub. This allows the cover to heat or cool the sleeping surface, creating a tailored sleep environment.
Users can adjust the temperature on each side of the bed from 13°C to 43°C (or 55°F to 110°F). The Autopilot feature, available through a subscription starting at $17 per month, utilizes the Eight Sleep app to monitor body temperature, room temperature, and local climate conditions, making real-time adjustments to maintain an optimal sleeping temperature. This functionality is particularly beneficial for couples who have varying temperature preferences.
Smart Features Enhance Sleep Quality
In addition to temperature regulation, the Eight Sleep Pod 4 incorporates AI-driven sleep tracking sensors. These sensors monitor sleep duration, stages, heart rate, heart rate variability, snoring, and other health metrics without requiring a wearable device. This means users can enjoy a more comfortable sleep without the inconvenience of smartwatches.
“Our lead tester was blown away by how well the pod regulated their temperature each night,” stated the review team, giving the Eight Sleep Pod 4 a perfect score of 5/5 stars in this category.
Furthermore, the mattress cover features a gentle wake-up process. Instead of jarring alarms, it utilizes natural cues, such as a gradual increase in body temperature, to wake users. It achieves this by gently vibrating and warming the bed as the desired wake-up time approaches, allowing for a more refreshing start to the day.
Despite its many advantages, the Eight Sleep Pod 4 does have limitations. Unlike some smart beds that allow users to adjust firmness levels, this model focuses on temperature regulation and sleep tracking. Prices for the Eight Sleep Pod 4 start at $2,449 for a full size, while a queen size is priced at $2,649—not including the Autopilot subscription.
For those seeking a fully adjustable bed experience, the Eight Sleep Pod 5 Ultra offers an upgrade with an adjustable base that can be positioned between the mattress and bed frame. Alternatively, consumers interested in customizable firmness to suit their sleep position may consider other options, such as Sleep Number mattresses.
For individuals looking to enhance their sleep with cutting-edge technology, the Eight Sleep Pod 4 stands out as the premier smart bed available. With Black Friday sales approaching, potential buyers may find opportunities to invest in this high-tech sleep solution at a discounted price.
