Wisconsin Woman Who Stabbed Classmate Goes Missing After Cutting Monitors

URGENT UPDATE: A Wisconsin woman, Morgan Geyser, who infamously attempted to murder a classmate in 2014 to appease the fictional horror character Slender Man, is currently missing after cutting off her electronic monitoring device and fleeing a group home. The Madison Police issued an alert on August 27, 2023, stating Geyser was last seen around 8 p.m. on Saturday with an adult acquaintance.

Police are urging the public to remain vigilant. “If you see Geyser, please call 911,” the alert emphasized, highlighting the urgency of the situation as she had removed her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet.

Geyser, now 23 years old, was placed in a group home earlier this year after being conditionally released from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. This release followed her guilty plea for attempted first-degree intentional homicide, a plea deal she accepted to avoid prison time. Geyser, along with her accomplice Anissa Weier, was only 12 years old at the time of the heinous attack on their classmate Payton Leutner.

In May 2014, the two girls lured Leutner to a park in suburban Milwaukee under the pretext of a sleepover. While Weier encouraged her, Geyser stabbed Leutner more than a dozen times in a brutal assault that left her fighting for her life. The girls later claimed to investigators that the attack was intended to earn them the favor of Slender Man, fearing he would harm their families if they failed to comply.

The case has drawn significant media attention, highlighting the chilling influence of internet mythology on young minds. Slender Man, created online by Eric Knudson in 2009, has morphed into a cultural phenomenon, appearing in video games, stories, and a 2018 film, becoming a modern boogeyman.

Weier was also charged and pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree intentional homicide. She was subsequently sent to a psychiatric facility and granted release in 2021.
