Dense Fog Advisory Hits Oklahoma: Urgent Caution for Drivers
UPDATE: A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued across Oklahoma, prompting urgent warnings for morning commuters. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Norman alerts residents that visibility may drop to a quarter mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions during the early hours.
Drivers are advised to proceed with caution as low visibility may lead to dangerous travel scenarios. The advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. today, after which the fog is expected to clear. However, motorists should remain vigilant as conditions can change rapidly.
According to NWS forecasts, once the fog dissipates, the weather will turn mostly sunny with a high near 63 degrees. Yet, Oklahomans should prepare for incoming showers before 9 p.m., alongside a potential thunderstorm until midnight. An 80% chance of precipitation is anticipated, with rainfall totals ranging from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, possibly more during thunderstorms.
As the day progresses, the NWS reminds drivers to adjust their travel plans due to the ongoing weather conditions. In their advisory, officials stated, “If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.”
Looking ahead, tomorrow will bring a 40% chance of showers before noon, giving way to a mostly sunny afternoon with highs around 65 degrees. The forecast for the remainder of the week looks promising, with mostly clear skies expected and nighttime temperatures dropping to the high 30s. This leads into a sunny Thanksgiving Day with temperatures peaking at around 57 degrees.
Stay tuned for further updates as conditions develop throughout the day. Share this information with friends and family to keep everyone informed and safe on the roads.
