In an effort to bring joy to pediatric patients during the holiday season, UC Davis Children’s Hospital has launched its Virtual Holiday Toy Drive. Running until December 24, 2023, this initiative allows community members to donate gifts to children and families spending the holidays in the hospital.

The Virtual Holiday Toy Drive, now in its seventh year, offers donors the chance to select items directly from a wish list or contribute towards the purchase of a gift. Donations will benefit not only patients at UC Davis Children’s Hospital but also those at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UC Davis MIND Institute. Funds raised through this event will help provide gifts during the holiday season and will also support the purchase of toys and games for birthdays and other celebrations throughout the year.

Diana Sundberg, manager of the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, expressed gratitude for community involvement. “Every donation helps bring joy and comfort to children and families spending their holidays in the hospital. Your support truly makes the season brighter for our patients,” she stated.

The donations will also be used to stock hospital playrooms, ensuring that children have access to toys and games during their stay. This initiative not only aims to bring immediate happiness but also supports ongoing efforts to enhance the hospital experience for young patients.

For those wishing to support this worthy cause, donations can be made through the Virtual Holiday Toy Drive website. The initiative underscores the importance of community support in making challenging times a little brighter for families in need.

As the holiday season approaches, the UC Davis Virtual Holiday Toy Drive stands as a testament to the power of giving and the impact it can have on the lives of children facing health challenges.
