BREAKING NEWS: Gerald R. Cote, a former Vice President at General Electric and a beloved family man, has passed away at the age of 85. Cote died on November 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and a deep love for his family and sports.

Born on July 21, 1940, in Derry, NH, Cote graduated from Pinkerton High School before earning an engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He began his illustrious career at the General Electric Company, where he held various positions across the country, ultimately rising to the rank of Vice President with significant assignments in Schenectady, NY, and Louisville, KY. His contributions to GE spanned over three decades, showcasing his dedication and expertise in the field.

Cote married his high school sweetheart, Sally, in July 1963. Together, they shared years filled with love and joy. He was also a devoted father, passionately coaching his late son, Brian, in little league and high school baseball. Cote’s enthusiasm for sports extended beyond coaching; he was an avid athlete himself, having played multiple sports in school and football during college.

Later in life, Cote found a new passion in golf, enjoying both competition and leisurely rounds with family and friends. A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, he never missed a game, demonstrating his unwavering support for his teams.

Gerald is survived by his son Andrew (Sydney) and son Christopher (Julia), as well as his two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer, who brought him immense joy in his later years.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services held. Those wishing to honor Cote’s memory may make memorial contributions to The Foundation for Ellis Hospital, located at 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.

This loss resonates deeply within the community, as Gerald R. Cote is remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the love and laughter he brought to his family and friends.
